Julieta Lasarte is a director and visual artist from Barcelona.

She studied Art History at the University of Barcelona and Audiovisual Communication at Ramon Llull University. After a decade dedicated to the audiovisual sector as film and advertising Assistant Director, she decides to develop her first film in 2018 while doing her Master in Creative Documentary at the EICTV in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. In 2019, it was selected as developing project in DocsBarcelona’s lab.

In 2020 she gets a grant from AADK Spain and participates in an artistic residence program where she develops a video installation project.

In 2021 she directed the shortfilm Perdices (Partridges).

In 2022 she wrote and directed her first short documentary film La Casa Oberta (The open house), currently premiering at International Film Festivals.

Her interest on family memories leads her to recover and preserve domestic videos and found footage. Her projects navigate between analog image experimentation and technology innovation.
